Joe Gabriel is a dynamic Director of Photography who has traveled the globe shooting commercials, television, documentaries and feature films. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, he began his career as the lead cinematographer for NBC’s in house production agency. During his time at NBC Universal he worked on a variety of multi-million dollar world wide campaigns including The Summer Olympics, the launch of Project Runway, The Apprentice, and the award winning campaign introducing Brian Williams as the anchor of NBC Nightly News.
Eager to broaden his scope behind the camera, he left NBC after five years. Since then, he has traveled to Tokyo, Singapore, Brazil, Peru, Italy and Egypt among other locations, shooting campaigns for Merck, Victoria’s Secret, Revlon, Sephora, AT&T and many others. He has worked with top commercial agencies including Ogilvy and Mather, Smuggler and The Ebeling Group. Being passionate about a good story, Joe added independent film to his slate, shooting the documentary feature "Brothers on the Line," the action/fantasy "The Crimson Mask," and the upcoming features "Sweet Lorraine" starring Tatum O'Neal and "Shockwave Darkside" a sci-fi shot entirely in 3-D. He has continued to work in television on various projects for MTV, Bravo and the Sundance channel. In 2010, he traveled the world as lead DP for the Discovery Channel Series "Brew Masters" which explores the world of craft beer.
Joe prides himself on his versatility and passion to ensure that the director’s vision is captured precisely as warranted. Comfortable working in film or HD, on run-and-gun docs or with large crews and packages, he makes the most of time and resources.
