Joe Gabriel is a dynamic Director of Photography whose diverse platform of work includes commercials, television, documentaries and feature films. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, he began his career as the lead cinematographer for NBC’s in house production agency. During his time at NBC Universal he worked on a variety of multi-million dollar world wide campaigns including The Summer Olympics, the launch of Project Runway, The Apprentice, and the award winning campaign introducing Brian Williams as the anchor of NBC Nightly News. He also began working closely with Katie Couric as her behind the scenes documentarian , a relationship that continues today as he accompanies her on special stories and news events including the Inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Eager to gain new experience and broaden his scope behind the camera, he left NBC after five years. Since then, he has traveled around the world shooting campaigns for Merck, Victoria’s Secret, Revlon, ESPN, and many others. Being passionate about a good story, Joe added independent film to his slate, shooting the documentary feature "Brothers on the Line," the action/fantasy "The Crimson Mask," and numerous shorts. He has continued to work in television, as a DP for A&E's "Biography," and a camera operator on MTV's "The City", Bravo's "Make Me a Supermodel and many more.
Joe prides himself on his versatility and passion to ensure that the director’s vision is captured precisely as warranted. Comfortable working in film or HD, on run-and-gun docs or with large crews and packages, he makes the most of time and resources.
